Janice's Art Studio
"I’m a community artist, celebrant, and cultural creative, collaborating in creating a world of respect, joy, and beauty."
I want to make art accessible to everyone. Creative expression is a part of our human nature, it is a gift everyone has to create beauty and bring inspiration to the human heart."
Janice's Art Studio
Puppet Studio and Classroom
In her studio, Janice creates larger than life puppets, masks and costumes and more.
She began with the All Species Project which is founded on the principles of ecology, and the interdependence of all life.
"When we create masks and costume representing another species of life, and imagine seeing thru their eyes, we find we can learn to be earthlings and not just human beings.Puppet theater is a powerful way to build community and narrate stories to inspire respect for all of life."
Often you can find the classroom filled with projects; Puppets are made from paper mache, cloth, wood and fibers retrieved from the wastestream creating magical dancing puppets for community performances.
In the Summer the classroom is filled with happy summer campers from the ATN summer camp program.
Art Tiles Clay Studio
In the basement clay studio, handmade tiles, sculptures and clay vessels are created and sold to provide a livelihood for Janice. Students of all ages, and apprentices are a part of the clay studio’s learning and creative environment.
