Solstice Celebrations Details

Winter Solstice Celebration 2022!

You're invited to our annual Winter Solstice event on Wednesday, December 21st where we will celebrate the longest night of the year! This year we are honoring the life of our beloved Ellen Leonard with potluck, songs, stories, Morris dancing, Taiko drumming, bonfire, and fireworks!

This is our first indoor Winter Solstice gathering since the beginning of the pandemic, and because this year's virus load is proving intense and some of our ATN household members are medically vulnerable, we are encouraging participants to wear masks when possible while indoors. Festivities will happen both indoors and outdoors. Please stay home if you or your household members are sick.

Here's the schedule:

  • 5pm - potluck gathering begins as people trickle in. Bring a food or drink to share as well as your own plates, bowls, cups, and utensils.
  • 6-7:30pm - singing and storytelling inside and outside around the caldron fires. Please bring a photo, song, and/or favorite memory of Ellen to share. We'd love photos to be placed on Ellen's wall of remembrance.
  • 7:30-8pm - Morris dancing indoors
  • 8pm - bonfire, Taiko, and fireworks!

There will be items of Ellen's in the garage for you to take home.

We welcome anyone who wishes to come early to help us build the bonfire and set up. If you're willing, please get in touch by email. Thank you!
